PLEASE NOTE: Registration for this course will close after November 30, 2026.Learn to improve your governmental financial statement and Auditors’ opinion preparation skills by reviewing issued Illinois local government financial statements and Auditors’ reports for compliance with GAAP and GAAS.
Review Illinois local government reports, including counties, municipalities, townships, school districts and other special districts. Attendees will spend dedicated time reviewing financial reports, including the basic financial statements, notes to the financial statements, individual fund financial statements, and Auditors’ reports.
John Cutrera is the Director of Finance and Human Resources for the Glencoe Park District where he oversees the accounting, finance, human resources and technology functions of the District. Previously he spent over 17 years in public accounting, with a focus on audit and consulting for local governments, including park districts, municipalities, counties and other special purpose districts. He is an active member of the National Recreation & Park Association (NRPA) and the Illinois Park & Recreation Association (IRPA), and an active member of the Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS), including serving as Subcommittee Chair for the Governmental Report Review Committee. John also serves on the ICPAS Government Content and Advisory Group, where he works with other committee members in identifying relevant and timely content for governmental members and putting together content for the society’s annual government conference. John is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Park & Recreation Professional (CPRP). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, as well as a master’s degree in General Management. John coaches all of his son’s sports, including baseball, football and basketball. John is an active runner and his leisure time is spent running the outdoor trails in the Chicagoland area or traveling with his wife and three sons.
