Pdf Summary
The presentation examines how AI can support the construction lifecycle, from winning work and preconstruction through jobsite execution, financial management, and workforce support.

AI adoption is growing, but measurable value lags: many firms use general-purpose tools, while few have integrated AI across operations. Current construction use is concentrated in office applications, with less adoption onsite. The presentation stresses that adopting AI is not the same as operationalizing it; effective use depends on modern systems and reliable data.

Examples include AI-assisted bid management, estimating, proposal drafting, permitting, schedule optimization, jobsite image analysis, field documentation, contract and requisition review, work-in-progress analysis, invoice processing, and employee training. It also describes a shift from predictive and generative AI toward agentic systems that can perform tasks across business software, such as matching invoices to purchase orders and routing exceptions.

Responsible adoption requires attention to hallucinations, bias, privacy, data exposure, shadow AI, and cybersecurity. Organizations should establish clear policies, accountability, oversight, and data safeguards before scaling.

To get started, prioritize repetitive, high-volume, error-prone processes with potential for savings and scalability. Begin with a small pilot and measure outcomes such as time saved, accuracy, adoption, employee engagement, and return on investment.

The suggested 90-day plan is to inventory AI use and set policies in the first month; select and run a measured pilot in the second; then evaluate whether to scale, revise, or stop it in the third. Lasting adoption also depends on culture: identify internal champions, provide hands-on training, set clear guardrails, and track active use and results.
